Where your lists are kept

Trips, bags, items, travelers, photos, and checklists are stored on your device and in your own private iCloud database through Apple CloudKit, under your Apple account. Apple's terms govern that storage. We do not receive this data and cannot read it.

Permissions the app requests

• Camera. Requested when you take a photo of a bag, its contents, or an item.
• Photo library. The app uses add-only access, so it can save a photo or a printable label to your library but cannot see what is already there. Photos you choose from your library come through the system picker, which shares only the photos you select.
• Notifications. Requested only after you create a trip with a start date. Reminders are scheduled on your device. No notification server is involved.

Every permission is optional and can be declined or turned off in your device settings. Declining one turns off that feature and nothing else.

Bag labels

The app can make a QR label for a bag. Anyone who scans the label can see the bag's contents list, which is the point of the label, so you choose what goes on it. The owner's name is included unless you turn it off. Trip dates are left out unless you turn them on. You can also require a 4-digit PIN.

There are two kinds of label.

• Fixed list. The list is encrypted and stored inside the code itself. Nothing is sent to us when you make it.
• Always current. The app encrypts the list on your device and sends only the encrypted copy to our label service at 7kpacklist.com. When you repack the bag, the app sends a new encrypted copy in its place, so the label shows the current list. The key needed to read it is kept in the part of the link after the "#" sign, which web browsers do not send to servers, so we cannot read your list. No name, email, account, or device identifier is attached to it. Each list is deleted automatically when the label expires, at most 90 days after you make it, and you can revoke it sooner from the app.

When someone scans a label, the list is decrypted in their browser. The label page sets no cookies and runs no analytics or third-party scripts. Our label service does not log list contents or visitors' IP addresses. To limit misuse, it counts requests using a one-way hash of the visitor's IP address, held briefly in memory and never stored.

This website

www.7kpacklist.com is a set of plain pages. It has no forms, sets no cookies, and uses no analytics, advertising, or third-party scripts or fonts.

Cloudflare

This website and the label service run on Cloudflare, which handles the network traffic and processes IP addresses to deliver and protect them, under Cloudflare's privacy policy.

Purchases

The free trial and the one-time purchase are handled by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive your payment details. Apple tells the app only whether the purchase has been made.

Sharing and printing

Manifests, labels, and photos you share or print go through the standard iOS share sheet and print dialog, to the people and services you choose.

No tracking, no advertising

• No analytics services.
• No advertising identifiers.
• No third-party trackers or software development kits.
• No accounts and no login.

Children

The app can hold the names of the people on a trip, including children, as entered by the person making the list. Those names stay in that person's iCloud account. We do not collect information from children.

Deleting your data

Deleting a trip removes it from your devices and your iCloud account. Deleting the app removes your lists from the device. To remove them from iCloud as well, delete the app's data in your device's iCloud settings. To remove an Always current label before it expires, revoke it in the app.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new date.
